What I do

Mary is a lifelong runner, she enjoys long runs around Back Cove and the Casco Bay Islands. Mary strives to instill a love of learning and a healthy lifestyle to help ensure a bright future for her students and school community. When not teaching and running Mary can be found reading, sailing, hiking, rock climbing, exploring Portland, crafting, and creating her own cards.

Mary began working at Loranger Memorial School in the Fall of 2016 as a part of the Third Grade Team. Mary believes that every child is capable of learning, succeeding, and mastery through practice.  Mary is passionate about creating the conditions for practice through fostering a welcoming and focused classroom learning environment. Mary enjoys making connections and building meaningful, trusting relationships with her students and their families.

Before Loranger Memorial School Mary completed her undergrad at the University of Maine in Elementary Education. While enrolled Mary was a member of the University of Maine Women’s Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track teams. Mary began her career in schools by working as an Educational Technician working with students K-12 before transitioning into her role as a classroom teacher. Mary taught for two years in Orono gaining experience in both Kindergarten and Third Grade. While in Orono, Mary was part of the coaching staff for the high school’s cross country and track State Champion teams.
