Matthew Foster

What I do

I spend most of my time outside of school with my family. My wife, three children, and yellow lab, keep me busy and on the go. Together we love to hike, work in our gardens, play games, and enjoy time at camp. I am an avid outdoorsmen, and enjoy spending time in central Maine where I grew up. I also enjoy watching and rooting for all the hometown New England sports teams.

I’ve served as principal of Loranger Memorial School since 2019. I love working with the students, families, and community members of Old Orchard Beach, and I’m proud to lead such a talented staff. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Maine and my Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. I’m currently working toward my Superintendent certification through the Maine Department of Education.

My career in education began as an 8th grade science and math teacher. I then taught a range of mathematics courses to students in grades nine through twelve, and coached girls and boys high school basketball along with boys soccer. Before coming to Loranger, I served as assistant principal at Newmarket Junior/Senior High School for three years.
