What I do
Mary has been married to her husband, Albert, for 36 years. They have two daughters, Celina and Sarah. Mary and Albert currently live in Sanford, Maine. In her free time, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband kayaking, riding bicycles, and taking long walks together. They also enjoy playing Cribbage with Mary’s sister and brother-in-law. During the summer months, Mary and Albert enjoy spending time on their small motorboat with family and friends on nearby lakes. Good friends and family are very important to Mary.
Mary started working at Loranger Memorial School 10 years ago as a Special Education Teacher in seventh grade. She originally worked as a resource room teacher helping students in all academic areas and also taught Math and Language Arts in the resource room during her first years. Over the past four years, Mary’s role has focused on reading instruction especially in the area of decoding for grades 3-8. Mary is presently working towards her Masters in Literacy at USM. She recently completed USM’s Literacy Practicum course in June and is expected to complete the course requirements for Maine certification as a Literacy Specialist in May 2022.
Mary originally received her BS degree through Westbrook College in Portland, ME. Mary’s journey in the classroom began as a volunteer in both of her daughters’ classrooms which quickly progressed to substitute teaching. She began working as an Educational Technician III in the Special Education programs for grades K-3 in Sanford, Maine. As a result of her love of teaching, Mary entered the ETEP program at USM where she earned her Master of Science in Education degree in May, 2011.
