What I do
Outside of school, Elaine and her husband, Tom enjoy hiking the beautiful New England region and spending time with their two children. In her community Elaine is an active member of the Jameson and Loranger PTO, she served as Thornton Academy’s costume director for the past six years and is an active member of her local church.
Elaine holds degrees from Endicott College and the University of Maine Augusta, she has a background in special education and is currently teaching third-grade at Loranger Memorial School. Mrs. Lees has been a member of the third-grade teaching staff in Old Orchard Beach since 2014. A strong advocate for hands-on learning and community involvement, she involves her students in project-based learning endeavors that help students make contributions to Old Orchard Beach. Her professional interests focus on helping students understand who they are as individuals and the importance of accepting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In addition, she serves as Loranger Memorial School’s Elementary Civil Rights Team advisor.
Prior to joining the RSU 23 staff, Elaine worked for herself while raising her two children. In 2009, she decided to pursue a life-long goal of becoming an educator and began working in Saco as an ed-tech in a developmental classroom. This experience further fueled her desire to make a difference in the lives of children and she went on to earn her teaching certification.
