What I do

Lori is a single mom to three sons, ages 19, 20 and 23. As her boys grew up, Lori took an active role in their activities, serving as a Den mother in Cub Scout Pack 37 for a number of years, as a “music mom” for the band and chorus programs, and currently as a board member for SPHS robotics. In her free time, Lori enjoys time with friends, crafting and gardening.

Lori has spent her entire teaching career at LMS, spanning 32 years. With a degree in Zoology, she was initially hired as a science teacher but transitioned to social studies several years ago. Lori has been in her current position, teaching math and social studies, for the past 2 years. She finds herself pleasantly surprised by her love for teaching math as a visual and creative subject, and she is excited to help her students develop positive math mindsets!

Lori graduated from UNH in 1987 and completed a full year of student teaching in Rye, NH before coming to LMS. Although she is a South Portland native, she never planned on returning to Maine to teach. As luck would have it though, a job opening for a long term substitute in 6th grade led her back home. After a few months, that job became permanent, and she has been at LMS ever since.
